For people that are serious about using grocery coupons, what type of filing system do you use?
October 25, 2008 - I am trying to organize my coupons to the point it doesn't make it take hours making my grocery list on Sunday mornings. Just looking for tips! Thanks.
- Try organizing them by their value, like how much the savings are. Or try organizing them by the order of food you you shop for, like if you get veggies first and breads last then order them like that.
I put the ones that expire soon on top or where they are easily seen so I can use them first. The things I'm likely to buy go after that, then the other coupons for things I might not "need" go in the back. I usually just use a rubber band or envelope to hold them. I hope this helps! ☺
- I don't know about you, but i have so many coupons now that i have to use a filing cabinet. But, i hear you can now get electronic ones.
Hi, This is what I do: I have a filer for 5x6 index cards. I make categories by expiration dates. I then make subcategories in the expiration date sections, such as: household supplies (cleaning, plates, paper towels, shampoo etc.). I then make subcategories for: dairy, dry goods, drinks, frozen, and produce. I know it sounds like a lot of work, but is great for after I make up my grocery list I look through my little filer and only pull out the coupons I'll use that way when I get to the check out worker I am not fussing looking for coupons, I just hand them one neat stack. Hope I helped.
Use a coupon organizer,You can buy one at most any store. Then put it in my Products.Like meat, snacks, ect. I have a clip board with paper and I I put a line down it and one side is for food and the other is for laundry det and house hold stuff. I look up other store is my area and look at the flyer's as well and I compare prices and stick them on a sticky note on my grocery list and them I tell the cashier my competitive store prices. You can not imagine how much you can save from doing this.
- I'm not into the coupon game but my mother is. I recall her filing according to type. Such as canned foods, frozen foods... She is so good at it the store owes her money.
Categorize! Meats, dry foods, fruits, supplies, etc. But don't overorganize! Put the coupons that expire the soonest near the front, and the ones that go on longer towards the back. Honestly an envelope or a small pouch works just fine and you can put in little sheets of paper with tabs specifying what goes where.
