How accurate are dollar store pregnancy tests?

September 6, 2008 - If I'm pregnant, I would say I am about 4 weeks along from conception. So, I would've gotten pregnant in the middle of or beginning of March because I had a period that was unusually normal compared to how mine usually is and that was on the 23rd. How accurate would a dollar store pregnancy test be for detecting pregnancy that early?

- with my son it was very accurate,but then again i was about 2 months when i took mine,because i was still bleeding,so i didnt know till i started to get P symptoms
- A dollar store tests measures 25 miu, just the same as the ept or the first response test. I found out with both of my boys with a dollar store test. Just buy a bunch of them and take them everyday. They will measure it probably a few days after you are late. For me, I have to be a week late before I can get a positive on anything.

- i took a name brand one and it was positive and I bought 2 from the dollor store just to make sure and they were both positive too. I am 37 weeks with baby # 2.
- if they say positive, their positive. if they say negative, i might go buy a store brand test to make sure. they are pretty accurate i say. the packaging is just cheap. and they dont look as fancy.
- That's the brand that I used when I found out I was pregnant with my second. I bought about five of them, and took one immediately, then took another the next morning. It was negative the night before but positive the next morning. I was so excited! As it turned out, I was almost 5 weeks at the time. So...yes. They're accurate.
- my sister used an ept first and it came back negative. the same day she took an dollar store test and it came back positive. she went to the doctor the next day and she was pregnant.

- IF you are late for your period then take a test. They are accurate if you are pregnant and have enough hormones! Good luck

- I have been told that they work, by a few people, but a real good friend of mine told me that she took like 5 and they were all negative and then she took at EPT at 8 weeks, and it was postive, so maybe her HCGs weren't high enough when she took the dollar store test. I'm not sure. but all tests are different and read better, you could always just try one?
- i just found out that i'm pregnant and bought a bunch of the dollar pregnancy tests and for weeks i didnt know i was pregnant because they DONT work! i really wish they would have but they didnt:(
- all tests can be un acurate the best way to find out is go to your doc they will do a test then send you for a scan wich will show up if your pregnant or not
- Well it depends on how much pregnancy hormone you are producing right now, and the sensitivity of the test. If you are early, try the dollar store, but you may want to just take the plunge and buy an early result version, it has more sensitivity to the hormone. They may even sell one like that at the dollar store too. best wishes I hope you get the result you are looking for!
- Well I was wandering about those dollar store test also but when I was about 4 days before my period was due I went and bought 5 dollar pregnancy test and they came up + so I totally trust them and also they save you money thats always a plus!!! I ended up going to the doctor and my levels were 82 for 3 and half weeks pregnant so it showed up. So I would defiantly buy them again.... GOOD LUCK
- LOL!!! Everything at the dollar store is crap! I bought straws there last week and even THEY dont work! HOW CAN YOU SCREW UP STRAWS?!! I DUNNO BUT THEY DID!! I cant sip out of them!!! And your talking about a pregnancy test? WOW!
- I bought my first two pregnancy tests from a cheap store and they both said positive so I invested in some more expensive ones to check. I would wait for another couple of weeks though so your HCG levels will be higher if you are pregnant and you'll get a clearer result.
