The presidential salary, effective Jan, 2001, is $400,000 per year plus $50,000 a year for expenses. Vice-presidential salary is $221,100. In 1789 it was $25,000 -still pretty good back then (or eve now for some).....it went to $50,000 in 1807 I believe. Retired presidents and First Ladies receive 10 years of civil service protection, children of any retired presidents- through age 16.
