Student cards accepted for discounts at new look?
September 5, 2008 - Hi, I was wondering if anyone can tell me which student cards are accepted at new look for student discounts?
The reason i'm asking is because i was told I couldn't have a discount because I wasn't spending enough money in the store. So (because im a poor student) I'd like to get the money back if I have a valid student ID card. The student cards I have are one from my university and one from connections. Both are photo ID stating i am a student.

This normally applies to NUS (national union of students) members with NUS cards. If your college / uni do not subscribe to this then it won't work. As for not spending enough - I don't think the shop assistant knew what she was talking about. The only time you can't get a discount is if the clothes are in the sale.
NUS is the one you can use in there but word of warning every store seems to have a different idea of what the student discount is. i shop at three or four different new looks and two i use NUS an can get discount off everything no price limit, one wont accept it for some reason. an the other theres the limit on spending. really depends on the shop, which is why i hate shopping in there.
- I've bought something at new look and even as little as £6 with my university student card i got money off. If it has the NUS logo on it then you can use it. I have used mine at New Look stores all over the country to get my 10% off. You can only get the discount with a sale though. and will need to show your card when bringing something back to get the discounted refund.
- I have a NUS card-but I think whether you can get one of these depends on whether your university uses it-go to www.nusonline.co.uk and have a look-it might tell you which unis they deal with. I bought some hair clips there for £3 the other day and still got my student discount-it may only 30p but its better in my pocket than theirs, right? lol. Hope that helps! x
- "couldn't have a discount because I wasn't spending enough money in the store" is that what they said and you basically ended the problem if you had argued for a bit i am 100% sure they would have gave you a discount, and sometimes you have to make sure you are speaking to the right person because knowadayz they will lie to the customer depending on what mood they are in.
